UWED MUN Conference

Model United Nations is a simulation of the UN General Assembly and other multilateral bodies. In Model UN, students step into the shoes of ambassadors from UN member states to debate current issues on the organization’s agenda. Student (delegates) make speeches, prepare draft resolutions, negotiate, resolve conflicts, and navigate the Model UN conference rules of procedure – all in the interest of mobilizing international cooperation to resolve problems that affect countries all over the world.

Model United Nations is a conference-activity in which students typically roleplay delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees.

Usually students of the universities, colleges and academic lyceums who are assigned by their application.

These conferences take place at UWED, which is annually organized by MUN club since 2005.

MUN develops substantial researching, public speaking, debating, and writing skills, as well as critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities. Preparing and participating in the Model, you will explore the problems of international relations, UN activities, as well as the principles of international law.

The participants of the UN Model act as official representatives (delegates) of the UN member countries who came to the Conference to discuss the issues on the agenda of their committee.

At the end of the conference, the participants write a resolution – document that has been passed by an organ of the UN that aims to address a particular problem or issue and put it to the vote. Debates help delegates to prove their position on the issue.

Model UN can be confusing to a beginner, not only because of the complexity of the issues and the pace of debate, but because of the strangeness of the language. In order to deal with the situation look at the tips and trainings.
